President Obama: Nothing Justifies Violence Against Law Enforcement

President calls for unity after tragic shootings

President Obama issued a statement on the Baton Rouge shootings on Sunday afternoon. He began by condemning the shootings.

We as a nation have to be loud and clear that nothing justifies violence against law enforcement. Attacks on police are attacks on all of us and the rule of law that protects all of us…I’m surrounded by the best of the best ever day.

Obama then spoke about those who want to divide Americans, saying “It remains up to us to make sure they fail.”

Obama referenced the upcoming political conventions and admonished Americans (and seemingly, Donald Trump) to focus on words and actions that bring unity and avoid divisive rhetoric. See the full video below.
