I probably shouldn’t do this. That having been said I am going to put my two cents into the gay marriage discussion. I am appalled at some of the rhetoric I am reading, especially from my fellow Christians.
I would remind you that, while our nation was founded by Christians on Christian principles, we are not a theocracy. So one can be of any religion that views gay marriage as wrong or sinful, but the government is not required to make it illegal.
Imagine if you will, if premarital sex and extramarital sex were illegal? Both are clearly not condoned in scripture.
We have so much that wants to divide us. It is so easy to get caught up in our own echo chambers and be so positive of the correctness of our position that we neglect our greatest commandment, to Love the Lord with all your heart and to love your neighbor as yourself.
To my Brothers and sister’s in Christ, I remind you that one is to recognize us as Christians by the love that we show others. That does not mean just Christians, but everyone. We are commanded to love each other as ourselves . Please chose your words with that in mind.
If you believe in evil and the Devil, would not these divisions be the perfect tactic to get us to take our eyes off of what is most important?
The world is a messed up place and as a believer, you already know it is going to get worse before it gets better. Don’t let that allow you to behave any less Christian. Let it motivate you to let your light shine more.
